Leak Test Results (non paid post)*

While at the rally (scroll down for pics), Steve from RoVing Resources did some leak testing on our unit. Folks, I highly recommend this and I recommend you do it every so often, especially if you're on the road as often as we are. While riding hither and yon, these units do flex, and things may change from time to time.

Let me see if I can tell you how it's done in layman's terms. He brought his machine over to our campsite and we shut all the windows and vents except one of our fan vents. Then he hooked up this big hose to the fan vent and  let it run to pressurize the trailer. Then he sprays soapy water on the skin. If it bubbles, there's a leak.

Here are what the leaks look like when they show up:

All in all it was well-worth the price and proved to be a great preventative maintenance item. After all, the best time to catch leaks is before they become a nuisance.  The leaks that showed up were no major surprise to us. Soon we'll be taking our unit up to the mothership (the airstream factory in Jackson Center, Ohio) for some minor warranty work. We'll just add all our leaks to the list.

Wow, that's really cool. I can see where this would be a good thing to do, maybe once a year or so.

Looking at your photos makes me wish I could travel around like that too. It must be so fun to sit around the trella visiting with people from all over the place. Maybe some day I'll get to do that too. I'll have to stay in Canada, though, because to do this I'd have to take all my 'family' with me. I could get all the shots for Reba & Mewsic, taking rabbits across the line is/or was no problem, though I don't know about chinchillas and apparently taking birds would be a hassle. I should look into that one time though, just to be sure. Hmmmm, another thing to research, LOL.

That's fascinating! I know I have leaks in my baby, I wonder if this system would help find them so we could finally seal them up. Maybe we'll run into Steve someday and find out :)
